Is he referring to the F10 M5 or the E60 M5? I'd believe the E60 were slower than the Model S, but the F10 shoots to 62mph in under 4 seconds, something the Tesla can't crack yet. Also, you can refuel an M5 in a matter of minutes, so...

Now I realize that driver reaction times make a big difference and if you were to run this race 10 times you the M5 could win half the time. But let's just say the Model S can hold its own against the M5 in a straight line.
And hey, I'm not saying the dude is correct that the Model S is "better" but I think it is just further evidence that electric cars don't have to be a sacrifice for consumers who want performance as well.

I agree, but the convenience of an established refueling network still trumps the electric car's charging time problem.

I've been saying this since I drove the S like a year and a half ago. The thing is legitimately incredible to drive.

There are a bunch of ancillary problems with fast recharging which are difficult to solve in a stationary setting, too. Mainly waste heat and, depending upon battery chemistry, possible hydrogen generation or other issues.
It's not as simple as "Put Fast Rechargers Everywhere", no matter how much Elon Musk wants to say effectively that.
Likely we will see more fuel cell cars before that happens, so the problems will become moot.

It's drivers reaction time and I'm willing to bet for 3-500$ you can tune the M5 to over 600+ Horsepower in just a few seconds.

Absolutely...and I would also imagine that with minimal software tuning Tesla can boost the output of the Model S while sacrificing range. But that is not my point, I like the M5 and I like the Model S. I am just glad that the future of electric cars which is coming whether we like it or not, doesn't have to mean we give up performance.
